Mounting Front Plate Bracket How To Install Your
For those of you struggling with how to install your front license plate on your crosstrek without drilling holes, see below:My front bracket is mounted by 3 bolts. After some trial and error, I got to a solution that works for me (hopefully – I make no guarantees for anyone else!). Most threads I found had old Amazon kit recommendations that are not sold anymore, or threads by do-it-yourselfers on car forums that had missing photos. When I went to install my newly arrived plates - after feeling dumb for a second trying to line up the holes - I scoured the internet looking for solutions.

Furniture protector pads 0.5 inch self stick (note that I found these lying around and no idea where to buy it) #10-32 3/4inch round head machines screws (2 needed) 3/16 x 1.5 inch neoprene washers (2 needed) #10-32 thread 3/8th inch rubber well nuts (unless you can find these at a general store near you, I could not! You only need 2) Universal front bumper license plate bracket
I left a millimeter of rubber sticking out from the car instead of completely flush.Next, prepare the universal plate holder for mounting. This will require some force but is doable. A scraper tool is useful for leverage when pushing in well nuts or for removing license plate screw caps.First, take two well nuts and push them inside the Japanese holes as far as you can.
Test for wobble of the plate, and make adjustments as necessary. On the front should be two standard metal washers to hold the screw in place in the universal plate holder.Line up the screws with the well nuts, and tightly screw these in place. Neoprene washers should be on the back where the plate holder will touch the car. Line up the #10-32 screws such that they are on the top row (middle row is a mistake, don’t do this- will create a super wobbly plate). I put three stickies on each far end and two stickies stacked going up the middle.
I kept all these in a little cup to keep track of them. And you’re done! I hope this guide helps someone save the time and frustration I felt during this process. The silicone license plate frame I bought came with black plastic caps to protect screws, so I used those on the front and back plates.
